About & impact
Kenya Women Aid supports ten young women in Kenya in their twenties who are building livelihoods through small businesses and skills training.
Three women have young children. Three women are in school. The women have been educated to use cryptocurrencies. All ten have wallets, which they use to convert crypto donations into Kenyan Shillings on the M-Pesa phone-based payment network used throughout Kenya.
The donations go toward rent, food, and education.
Some have experienced recent tragedies. The father of one was murdered. The brother of another woman was murdered. The mother of one had to have her leg amputated after a tragic car accident that took the life of the father.
Every effort is being made to allow the women to become self-sufficient. One of them has opened a very basic hair salon that is attracting repeat clients.
We use cryptocurrency because it reduces friction for international supporters, lowers fees compared with some traditional rails, and allows transparent on-chain verification of incoming support. You can give from anywhere in the world without a local bank intermediary.
Every contribution matters: $20 per day covers rent, food and education per woman.
I have personally been supporting these 10 women for 9 months. Shelter, food and schooling. My resources are being depleted so I am asking for your support to ensure the women’s long-term quality of life.
Alternate way to donate: Kenya Women Aid on Giveth — a peer-to-peer project page if you prefer that route.
